The Dock

On the bottom side of your Workspace there is a list of icons, this is your Dock.   

The Dock is an application launcher. It is a list of shortcuts to your most-frequently-used applications and once you single-click an icon, that app will load.  

You can choose which apps to keep in your Dock, as well as their placement order and icon size.  One way to do this is via the Dock editor tool.

An easy way to reach Dock editor is to right click your Dock and select it from there.

Layout settings 

When you open the Dock editor , the first settings that will appear are Layout settings. In this section you can edit the size/position of the dock. 

Dock size – This option will increase of decrease the dock size based on what you need.

  • Extra large
  • Large
  • Medium
  • Small

Layout – This option allows you to move the Dock everywhere on the desktop (Bottom/Top/Right/Left)

X/Y coordinates  – This allows you to place the Dock based on coordinates.

Save Dock” button will save the new changes.

Edit applications 

If you click on the left side of the window on any of the applications listed you will be able to edit them. This helps you manage your dock easily by letting you choose what apps you want to show on it. 

In here you can edit the following:

  • Name of the application and its display name
  • Description of the application
  • Preferred workspace : once you selected the workspace, this will open the application in the desired virtual workspace all the time. (Read more about virtual workspaces here.
  • Icon of the application
  • Sort order : here you have buttons arrow up and down which will move the icon on your dock.
  • Save” button to save the new chances
  • Cancel” button will cancel the action and return you to Layout Settings.
  • Remove” button will remove the application off the dock.

Add applications

In order to add new applications to the dock you need to use “Add dock item” button. Once that is pressed you can do the following:

  • Application – Drop down list where you can choose the application you want to add
  • Display name of the application
  • Description of the application
